Commodity: Copper, Gold
Location: Sonora, Mexico
Size: 12.74 km²
Status: Riverside will be conducting follow up field work in 2016

Riverside Resources won the right to stake the Ariel project through the claims lottery process and subsequently staked and acquired the project in northern Sonora, Mexico.

The Ariel Project is strategically located 30 km ESE of the world-class La Caridad Cu-Mo porphyry mine (1,800 Mt @ 0.45% Cu, 0.02% Mo), and 24 km SE of the Los Alisos Cu porphyry prospect. To the best of RRI’s knowledge, the area has not been drill tested previously and represents a new grass-roots target.

The Ariel property was staked by Riverside in late 2015 and developed out of a strong reconnaissance prospecting program in the area. Access to the Property is good with 30 km on dirt roads from paved highways where power grid and other infrastructure are in place servicing the nearby La Caridad mine.

This project is strategically located in the Laramide copper belt of northern Mexico and is currently at an early stage of exploration. Preliminary geologic mapping, alteration analysis and sampling has so far been conducted on the project to help focus targeting for the upcoming exploration program.

In April 2018 a reconnaissance exploration program performed by Riverside outlined alteration zones potentially related to porphyry copper mineral systems with drill target areas defined. Some 293 rock samples were collected and analyzed for trace metal contents using a portable X-ray fluorescence instrument as well as a mineral analyzer that employs near infra-red spectrometry to identify minerals typically formed by hydrothermal processes. An additional 120 samples were analyzed using only the spectral analyzer (see press release April 5, 2018).

Initial observations and interpretations suggest the volcanic and intrusive host rocks and alteration patterns consistent with a copper porphyry type system. Further analysis has determined that the Ariel Project has epithermal alteration zones typical of other gold-silver districts in Sonora, with the main zone at Ariel possibly distal to a porphyry copper target. The project covers an extensive zone of hydrothermal alteration, measuring 2.8 km in length by up to 1.9 km wide in one central area and other lateral zones. These alteration types recognized on the Property are consistent with the upper parts of a porphyry Cu system.
